AACTA award-winning Mariot Kerr is a leading Australian costume designer, working with such screen talent as Nicole Kidman, Cate Blanchett, Judy Davis, Joel Edgerton, Adam Driver, Hilary Swank and Julia Garner over her 20 plus year career.

The in-demand costume designer works across film, television and advertising and was awarded the 2020 Best Costume Design AACTA for her work in the ABC-TV/Netflix acclaimed mini-series STATELESS.

From Matchbox Pictures, NBCUniversal and Blanchett’s Dirty Pictures, STATELESS, directed by Emma Freeman and Jocelyn Moorhouse, was also recognised by AACTA as Best Telefeature/ Mini-series and starred Blanchett, Strahovski and Keddie, as well as Jai Courtney and Dominic West.

Mariot recently wrapped production on the See-Saw Films/Scarlett Films thriller feature THE ROYAL HOTEL, directed by Kitty Green, and starring Garner, Jessica Henwick and Hugo Weaving. THE ROYAL HOTEL will be released in 2023.

Mariot’s previous collaboration with See-Saw Films, THE STRANGER, recently debuted in cinemas and Netflix worldwide. THE STRANGER, directed by Thomas M. Wright and starring Edgerton, screened at the Cannes Film festival in May 2022 to standing ovations and rave reviews. Sean Harris and Jada Alberts co-starred in the crime feature, also from Anonymous Content and Blue-Tongue Films.

Mariot’s work in anthology series ROAR premiered globally on Apple TV in 2022. From Made Up Stories, Blossom Films and Endeavour Content, and directed by Kim Gehrig, Mariot worked with Kidman, Davis and Baker in the episode entitled “The Woman Who Ate Photographs”.

Mariot also collaborated with Cannes Lion award-winning director Gehrig on a recent Apple iPhone advertising/marketing campaign, produced by Revolver and Somesuch.

In 2021, Mariot’s work featured the smash hit Netflix drama CLICKBAIT, from Tony Ayres Production/ Matchbox Pictures and starring Adrian Grenier, Zoe Kazan and Betty Gabriel. CLICKBAIT topped the most watched charts in over 20 countries, including the US, UK and Australia.

Mariot was nominated for an Australian Production Design Guild (APDG) Award for Best Costume Design for her work on the Netflix sci-fi feature I AM MOTHER, starring Swank and Clara Rugaard and directed by Grant Sputore.

Other credits include the ‘prison escape’ feature film ESCAPE FROM PRETORIA starring Daniel Radcliffe and directed by Francis Annan; WAKE IN FRIGHT, a television adaptation directed by Kriv Stenders and the recipient of seven AACTA nominations, including Best Costume Design for Mariot; HBO’s critically-acclaimed series THE LEFTOVERS, starring Justin Theroux and Liv Tyler; the Matchbox Pictures/NBCUniversal political thriller SECRET CITY, with Torv and Jacki Weaver; Screentime’s ANZAC GIRLS; and DEADLINE GALLIPOLI, from Matchbox Pictures/ NBCUniversal and starring Hugh Dancy, Sam Worthington and Charles Dance.

As well as her 2020 AACTA win, Mariot was nominated for Best Costume Design at the 2008 AACTA Awards for LUCKY COUNTRY and again in 2014 for her work on the feature film TRACKS, from director John Curran and starring Mia Wasikowska and Adam Driver for See-Saw Films.

Mariot’s other recent commercial work includes the US campaign for Abbott Freestyle’s NOW YOU KNOW, from Anomaly and Exit Films and directed by Mark Malloy. She also collaborated with director Jeffrey Darling on the memorable South Australian Tourism campaigns, including BAROSSA: BE CONSUMED, which won the top honor – The Gold Camera Award – at the US International Film and Video Festival.
